Year 12 Outdoor Environment Studies Camp: Studying the Bunurong and Cape Liptrap Coastline
What a class of stars! Everyone applied themselves throughout the camp, whether it was helping with equipment, supporting others over difficult parts of the hikes, supporting friends when cooking or working around camp. It was great to see the students really give everything a go and overcome physical and emotional challenges and difficulties. Our camp incorporated three detailed learning tours; the coal mine, the Desalination and the Bunurong environment Centre. The students were excellent - they were respectful and responsible, engaging with the tour guides in an enthusiastic, fun way, which was certainly great to see!
Other aspects of our camp were the extremely physical; the beach walk in misty rain and snorkelling in cold conditions. The team spirit and support some students demonstrated helping their peers was amazing. Their independence and organisation of their food and equipment was also good to see and I hope they will continue to build on this at our next camp. No matter how challenging things are, I am already looking forward to our Eildon and Cathedrals Rock Climbing Camp. It will be another camp where physical and emotional support will be essential. The dates are after school from Thursday 19th March to the afternoon of Friday 20th March.
