Authentic experience with perfect learning outcomes Lilydale Heights College provides students with an authentic experience without compromising on teaching and learning outcomes. Its key focus areas include: knowledge and language, culture and values, access to future directions. Vocational Education & Training Vocational Education & Training (VET) subjects provide an alternative way of learning skills and concepts. VET subjects can contribute to the VCE in the same way as any other VCE subject and can count towards a student’s overall scored results. The aims of VET are to increase the breadth of subject choice and cater to different styles of learning. Our students are invited to enrol in other VET programs of interest at schools in our local area. Lilydale Heights College is an affililiated school with the Yarra Valley VET cluster. Students can undertake a VET subject at TAFE as part of this arrangement. China Sister School Visit - 2017

Seven students and one teacher from Kunshan Yushan Middle School in Jiangsu Province arrived in the College on 4 August and spent one week with our students.

English Lessons with the Suzhou Kunshan Visitors

During their English sessions with our EAL teacher, Ms Miller, our Chinese visitors enjoyed playing Chinese whispers and Celebrity Heads. They later created some entertaining short stories that included some of our well-known local natives.

Japanese Club Paper Plane Competition

Monday 7th August saw the Japanese Club practise for the Paper Plane competition.

Year 8 students were inspired by the movie Paper Planes, which they watched during Japanese Cultural Day, creating some very interesting looking planes, which could do some interesting manoeuvres in the air.

International Mathematics Olympiad

On Tuesday July 25, Lilydale Heights College hosted the International Middle Years Mathematics Olympiad. Over one hundred and twenty students from Asia and surrounding schools competed in the one-day event.

Farewell Tomomi

Tomomi Matsubayashi has been our latest Japanese Assistant and will finish her year here at the end of the term.
