On Thursday November 3rd, our Year 9 and 10 Auslan students travelled to Prahran to see the site of the first deaf school in Victoria. We looked into the school’s history, played several very competitive rounds of rapid fire to test students’ Auslan knowledge and used Auslan to communicate and order lunch at the College’s Tradeblock Cafe. The students practised their order while in line, showed great respect and courtesy and enthusiastically participated in all activities for the afternoon. It was also really lovely to see students from the previous semester brush up on their Auslan skills to participate on the day.
Ms Famularo and Mrs Taylor thoroughly enjoyed the group’s enthusiasm and company throughout the excursion, and couldn’t be more proud of how they conducted themselves in a public space.
