Year 12 Outdoor Environment Studies Experience
Our year 12 group completed their first outdoor experience this week: 3 days investigating the historical relationships of the Cape Liptrap area.
The students coped very well with various weather conditions while snorkelling. We had some freak waves and changes in wind, but saw a range of fish, stingrays and seagrasses.
Our second day involved an 8km coastal hike to Walkerville, jumping rocks, blowholes and exploring caves where the tides had vacated. The students had to be self-sufficient with their cooking and camping organisation. They coped very well with each other respecting needs and most importantly they were extremely responsive taking in as much of the info for the key knowledge required for our first sac and exams in this area from the Bunurong Environment Centre, the Walkerville Kilns settlement and the State Coal Mine.
The students were extremely polite and responsive to the instructors and presenters and made 100% commitment to learning and getting involved. Well done and watch out for our next set of learning – Contemporary Relationships in the Cathedrals Ranges.
