Middle School Outdoor Ed - Cathedrals Ranges Hike Experience Camp
A good view on 7th June, but not stop rain on 8th June.
What a Camp!!!! This was certainly the "icing on the cake" for the groups’ semester's experience in outdoor ed. I was extremely impressed at their concentration and support of each other’s learning levels and abilities throughout the two days.
All students managed to climb up to Sugarloaf peak 1020m high through some steep, rocky sections and then continued along the Razorback ridge 5km and then down into camp. This is the first group where we had all students complete the route, significant group appreciation!
After completing this physically and mentally demanding hike, they had the set up their homes for the evening and cook their meals. Their trangia experiences were very funny to watch, but everyone had something hot!!!
Despite the rain today (lots of it) it didn't damper their spirits, they faced a different challenge of carrying a full hiking pack over the remainder of the Range. The students walked the whole length of the range from one end to the other over the 2 days and saw some amazing views along the way.
Well done to all of the students!!!!!!
