On Wednesday September 19, Lilydale Heights College hosted the Regional Director and Deputy Secretary of the Department of Education, Judy Rose and Bruce Armstrong.
Another term has flown by, the days are longer and the weather is warmer. Lilydale Heights College continues to be an active learning environment where learning and extra curricular opportunities continue to be presented to students by highly committed staff.
Well done juniors on their first adventurous journey. They were excellent throughout the day walking carefully with their packs over different challenging terrain.
At the high ropes students realised what perceived risks were and what they felt like whilst waiting to drop from the 15m platform. There was no way they would fall to the ground, but actually leaping off and relying on the harness system was pretty hard enact.
It has been a challenging couple of days in various ways for the students. Walking in the rain with full hike pack created some hazards on the slippery tracks. All students coped very well and developed their navigation techniques.
Term 3 has an uninterrupted focus on teaching and learning. Students are busy in all classes where teachers are actively involved in challenging their learning and developing an environment where students are encouraged to extend themselves.
In a first for the college, the Family Science Night included a Science competition. Congratulations to our 5 inaugural winners.
Congratulations to all of the school bands that competed in the Victorian School Bands Festival!
Congrats to our current middle school outdoor ed group! They completed their second MTB session to and around Lilydale Lake Bike Skills Park.
The year 12 Outdoor environment studies group have reached the end of their OES camps this week.
