This week we took the middle school outdoor ed group out on a trip. We were very excited, but the weather was very cold. As we walked up the 1000 Steps Memorial walk we rose into the clouds and fog.
Our students we fantastic, they really started to appreciate the wildlife, the range of different people that were completing their walk as well as the strengths and weakness of their peers. As few students started to struggle with tasks of carrying back packs up the difficult terrain, they clearly demonstrated resilience and determination, but other students assisted their peers full of team support!
These qualities continued throughout the second part of pour day when we went to Tree Tops Adventure and completed the high ropes courses. Our students coped with a variety of tasks, challenges at different difficulties. All students made 100% of their learning experience and really excelled. They were a pleasure to take out.
I hope this continues as we embark on our next outdoor challenge on the Yarra River next term.
